What will my child need to participate?
Your child can wear comfortable gym clothing: leggings/shorts with a tank or tee and leotards are acceptable clothing. All long hair must be pulled back. No jewelry. No baggy clothes, jeans, skirts or dresses.
Does my child need to have prior gymnastics ability?
National Kids Gym classes are tailored from beginner to intermediate gymnasts. No prior gymnastics training is necessary. We will teach your child all the basics with the latest equipment.
All we ask is for our students to have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!
What can I expect from a National Kids Gym Class?
Classes are filled with lots of energy, skill development, and fun! We use several different pieces of equipment in class, balance beam, trampoline, wedge mats for tumbling and handstands, cartwheel training mats, a barrel to practice backwards motion. We perform aerobics and play movement games, teaching body awareness.
In the beginning of class, we warm up and stretch – a necessity to any physical activity. Then we typically play a movement game, enhancing coordination and tumbling skills. Afterwards, we put together an obstacle course in which we focus exclusively on skill work. The class offers progressions for children to grow in their skills and accomplish success each step of the way. This allows the children to have fun and be creative while learning the basics of gymnastics.
